The Dark Knight - Don’t You Dare Miss It!

The Dark KnightIn the making of the film The Dark Knight, the brilliant construction of the plot, the careful assignment of the character roles, the designing of the costumes, and the care in filming and production of the movie carry this film to it’s rightful place-at the top of the charts.

The plot of this heavily dramatic work of art places the idolized comic book superhero, Batman, in a compromising position that draws him away from the superhero genre-an interestingly different approach that fives the viewers a second opinion of what goes on in the mind of a superhero. Is anyone really squeaky clean in the world of crime?

The chosen actors in The Dark Knight really submerge themselves deeply into the personalities of the characters. Christian Bale, who plays Batman, is totally dedicated in his portrayal. The Joker is always an outstanding character in the Batman movies-they say the villain “makes the movie”. Heath Ledger who simply becomes The Joker prepared himself for this role by hibernating in a hotel room for an entire month in order to lose his own identity and replace it with that of The Joker for the duration of the filming-intense drama is generated from such a commitment.

Aaron Eckhart is the DA, Harvey Dent. His character was changed from a “white hat” guy to a “black hat” guy after The Joker causes his disfiguration and his girlfriend is killed-he becomes the villain, Two Face, a cold hearted killer and vengeance seeker. These are only a few of the characters who carry out the intriguing plot of The Dark Knight.

The filming of this movie took place in various locations-many of them in Chicago. Jour of the main scenes of The Dark Knight were shot in IMAX in order for its showing in IMAX theatres.

The critic, Roger Elbert states that this movie lends an entire new definition to what a comic book story can be transformed into. This film is an outstanding box office hit and has a rate of approval of 90%. The Dark Knight is a must see film. I’m sure the theaters will be packed with fans and newcomers. Buy your ticket and hold on for the ride.

Top 10 Superhero Movies of All Time

With the Dark Knight hitting Theatres soon, we thought it was time to look back on the top 10 superhero movies of all time. So below is a list starting with number 10 of our top superhero movies.

    10. Spiderman

The first time we get to see Toby McGuire as the web slinging hero, and the reason why superhero movies were cool to watch again. This movie did well for an origin movie and is thoroughly enjoyable not as much as its sequel though.

    9. X-men

Another Marvel movie in the top 10 list, with the strong characters and the movies broad appeal its hard not to enjoy the first X-men movie. Although it lacked the action that some fans desired, X-men is still a good superhero movie.

    8. The Incredible Hulk 2008

The reboot of Ang Lees Hulk, this time starring Edward Norton and Liv Tyler. The incredible hulk improved so much on its first attempt and is worthy of its number 8 spot. The perfect cast, the amazing fight sequences all make the Incredible Hulk a fun and enjoyable Superhero movie.

    7. Spider Man 2

The sequel improves on Spiderman in heaps and bounds, not only does Spiderman still have his comedic side to him but also the action sequences are what you expect from a superhero movie AMAZING! Spideys fights with Dr Ock on the train are awesome to watch and are pretty much hard top.

    6. Superman Returns

Finally a DC superhero movie in the charts. While the pace of the movie is not what you would expect from a superhero movie, and there isn’t a lot of action either. Superman Returns still delivers, with strong characters and an excellent cinematic experience in the plane sequence. Hopefully if there is a sequel there would be more action!

    5. X-Men 2

More action than the first, from the wolverine fights to Night crawler’s invasion of the white house. This movie improved on the first in everyway possible and the ending was also very good for setting up what looked like a promising trilogy, little did we know X-Men the last stand would be rubbish.

    4. Hancock

Some viewers may disagree, but Hancock had everything a superhero movie should have, some moments of comedy, action, story and strong acting. Will smith’s super performance also surprises me in this movie and Hancock deserves its place at number 4.

    3. Iron Man

Not knowing much about the character of Iron Man I wasn’t sure what to expect when watching the movie. Everything from the character of Tony Stark to the onscreen performances of Downey and Paltrow were enjoyable to watch.

    2. Superman the Movie

The original superman movie has everything a superhero movie should have, and considering it was made so long ago and is still rated by many fans as the best Superman Movie to date well that shows how good this movie is. The helicopter scene where the world is first introduced to Superman is amazing and makes me smile every time I watch it. Christopher Reeve pulls of Superman and Clark so well he’s still remembered today as one of the best actors to have played Superman. This film will make you believe a man can fly, and for this reason above all( Nod to the fans) Superman The Movie Ranks in at number 2 of all time superhero movies.

And now for the number 1 spot of all time superhero movies… Ghost Rider… Just kidding.

    1. Batman Begins

Christopher Nolan can’t be thanked enough for making a Superhero movie so good that all the other Batman attempts are wiped from our minds. With the rubbish that came before Batman Begins it’s hard to see why any one would want another attempt at a Batman Film, but Nolan did this and the results are amazing. We have a truly believable superhero movie which gets rid of the silly plot lines, silly characters and unbelievable architecture of Gotham and made everything a lot more realistic which benefits this film. Christian Bale is an excellent choice for Batman and also Michael Caine is excellent as Bruce’s butler Alfred. Now bring on the sequel.
